ACSR cable is a high capacity stranded conductor mainly used for overhead power lines. ACSR conductor design can be done like this, the outside of the conductor can be made from pure aluminum while the inside of the conductor is made from steel, thus providing extra strength to support the weight of the conductor. Compared to aluminum, steel material has high strength, so mechanical forces can be applied over the conductor.
